Pratice reading log English

"The Milgram Experiment" by Saul McLeod is an artical about obedience (They just follow orders from there superiors) The man character in this story is Milgram, Milgram is running the experiments of obedience. I think Stanley Milgram is a sneaky guy; placing in the newspaper; males wanted and were told it will take part in the Yale University. The volunteers were told that they would take place in the lab experiment.
This story is built around obedience, random selections of volunteers to take part of the Yale University, People who obey there superiors are not bad; we see them as role models even though we know right to wrong, the experiment proved no matter how high the voltage got put on the electric chair from a small shock to near death experience; they would still electrocute you because they have been told so. My evidence of this comes from the text "65% (two-thirds) of participants(i.e. "Teachers" continued to the highest level of 450 volts. all of the participants continued to 300 volts." Also another quote from the text "More often then not adults have extreme willingness to go almost any length on the command of an authority figure."

Newtons Laws PE

Who is Izaac Newton?

Newton was born on 4th January 1643
and died and died 31 March 1727.
Sirr Izaac Newton is a well known scientist he
formulated the laws of motion and universal
gravitational. Not only that he built the first
reflecting telescope.

3 Laws of motion
First Law
Newtons first law states that "every object
in a state of uniform motion tends to remain
in that state of motion unless an external force
is applied to it." Witch means it will remain
moving or still unless something effects upon it.
Second Law
acceleration is produced when a force
acts on a mass. The greater the mass,
the greater the amount of force required.
F=ma.
You need more force to push (accelerate)
an heavy (mass) object.

song activity english

Song name Take me to church

Pink = Similie
Blue = Metaphore
Green = Other

My lover's got humour
She's the giggle at a funeralKnows everybody's disapprovalI should've worshipped her sooner
If the heavens ever did speakShe's the last true mouthpieceEvery Sunday's getting more bleakA fresh poison each week
"We were born sick," you heard them say it
My church offers no absolutesShe tells me, "Worship in the bedroom."The only heaven I'll be sent toIs when I'm alone with you
I was born sickBut I love itCommand me to be wellAaay. Amen. Amen. Amen.
[Chorus 2x:]Take me to churchI'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your liesI'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knifeOffer me that deathless deathGood God, let me give you my life
If I'm a pagan of the good timesMy lover's the sunlightTo keep the Goddess on my sideShe demands a sacrifice
Drain the whole seaGet something shinySomething meaty for the main courseThat's a fine-looking high horseWhat you got in the stable? We've a lot of starving faithful
That looks tastyThat looks plentyThis is hungry work
[Chorus 2x:]Take me to churchI'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your liesI'll tell you my sins so you can sharpen your knifeOffer me my deathless deathGood God, let me give you my life
No Masters or KingsWhen the Ritual beginsThere is no sweeter innocence than our gentle sin
In the madness and soil of that sad earthly sceneOnly then I am humanOnly then I am cleanOoh oh. Amen. Amen. Amen.
[Chorus 2x:]Take me to churchI'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your liesI'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knifeOffer me that deathless deathGood God, let me give you my life

Project based learning log

Date: 30/11/16
Action taken: Miss Johnston, took me and Jaiden down to Countdown so we can pick up 4, 24 packs of soft drinks. Me and Jaiden split the 4, 24 backs into 2, 24 packs each. If it wasn't for Mr Aiken taking us down to countdown the day before this. we would never of got to split half of this. On the way back to school Jaiden ended up dropping the 24 pack making bottles burst open. In the end we just cleaned it up and got rid of the damaged bottles.

Project based learning log

Date: 30/11/16
Action Taken: Went to the staff meeting and talked to all the staff about what we are doing and why. It was good that the teachers enjoyed the speech, and i think i explained it well, no teachers had any questions at the end. If Mr rogers never let us into the staff meeting i don't think we would have as much hygiene stuff that we have now. But it was hard to get cory to come, unfortunately the other group did not come as well.

Project based learning log

Date: 29/11/16
Action taken: I spoke to Mr Rogers, about getting a time to go into the staff meeting that way i can also ask staff to bring hygiene stuff to school and then i explained what we are doing to the staff. Mr Rogers told us to come into the staff meeting the next morning at 8.15. and said it would be good for the whole group to come in.
Mr Aiken and Mr Peseta suggested the idea of going into the staff meeting, and Mr Rogers being available that day helped us achieve this.
If Mr rogers said no, we would just have to stick to the email.

1. What is your chosen issue that interests you?
Homelessness
2. Describe what the specific issue is (what, how, who, why).
There are becoming more homeless people each year. Living on the streets. Crime gos up, Diseases gos up, not to mention there are more deaths because of these reasons and more. No food, and our streets are looking more dirty.
Homeless Don't earn an income or if they do, it is very little to support them. Therefore they do not own or rent a income.
The basic problem of homelessness is the human need for personal shelter, warmth and safety, which can be literally vital. Other basic difficulties include: personal security, quiet, and privacy, especially for sleeping. safekeeping of bedding, clothing and possessions, which may have to be carried at all times. hygiene and shaving facilities. cleaning and drying clothes. obtaining, preparing and storing food in small quantities. keeping contacts, without a permanent location or mailing address. hostility and legal powers against urban vagrancy..Homeless people face many problems beyond the lack of a safe and suitable home. They are often faced with many social disadvantages also, reduced access to private and public services and reduced access to vital necessities: Reduced access to health care and dental services. Limited access to education. Increased risk of suffering from violence and abuse. General rejection or discrimination from other people. Loss of usual relationships with the mainstream. Not being seen as suitable for employment.. Reduced access to banking services. Reduced access to communications technology.
3. How do you know this is an issue? Evidence must be included.
“Between 2006 and 2013, the rise in homeless people outstripped population growth. New Zealand's population grew by 4.8 per cent over this period, while the number of homeless grew by 25 per cent.” Says the university of Otago. Statistics show that The total number of homeless in 2013 was 41,075, or 1 per cent of New Zealand's population. In 2006, the number of homeless was 33,295, or 0.8 per cent of the population.
4. How has this issue come about? Evidence must be included. (What, how, who, why.)
This issue has come about because some homeless people do not earn an income because they don’t have the right skills to get a job. And if they are on a income, there getting very little income to support them. Therefore These people are living on the streets, in the cold, in the rain. These people are getting sick and unhygienic. On homeaid.org they say “Homelessness is, in fact, caused by tragic life occurrences like the loss of loved ones, job loss, domestic violence, divorce and family disputes. Other impairments such as depression, untreated mental illness, post traumatic stress disorder, and physical disabilities are also responsible for a large portion of the homeless
5. Who is affected by your chosen issue? Think beyond the immediate people affected by discussing how people are affected at Personal, Interpersonal and Societal levels by your issue.
On a personal level, He or she could love life, but then because they don't have a place to stay, a proper meal, or even warmth. he or she could be hating life, some people walk past homeless and laugh at them. There are also people stealing of these homeless just making them have less to what they already have. On a Interpersonal level, Friends and Family, He or she might not have family. that could be a reason why there homeless. Or gotten into a big argument with family so he/she can’t stay there. This affects the homeless, and the family and friends. The family would be feeling sad and disgusted. The homeless friends (if he or she has any) they would be wanting to help him out as much as they can but there struggling themselves or has a full house, just couldn’t afford it. On a Societal level, i think that the community does not like to see homeless at all, but stay out of it. These homeless are making the streets look dirty by sleeping on it. this is not a good look for our tourist as well.
6. Why is this an important issue for your group to address? Think about the short term and the long term.
Long term, people will be having a healthy lunch or tea, Also be clean not to mention they could have a job as well. to support them and not other people supporting them. Society and friends and family would be happy to not see so much homeless on the streets.
Short term, the homeless would have some warm clothes on and a decent meal.
7. What is it that your group will do to enrich or improve the lives of others? Explain what your goal is and how your goal will enrich or improve the lives of others.
We will Fundraiser as much money as we can, By all different events, and sites online. And that can pay for food for the homeless.
We will also go to the salvation army and other second hand shops to see if they will kindly be able to donate some clothes to the homeless.
we would also try and help them find a job by filling out some paperwork that they might not know how to do.
We will get a mufti day going and then give the city mission and salvation army Non perishable foods, soaps etc.

Yearly cycle of fruit trees at Hornby High School

Yearly cycle of fruit trees at Hornby High School

Summer
In Summer the fruit trees buds are finished flowering and the apples grow. The apples grow with seeds inside then so that animals will eat the fruit and eventually poo out the seeds so a new tree can grow.

On the 27th of april the apples on the fruit trees at Hornby were ready to be picked and eaten. I could tell they were ready because the fruit was large and had a bright red colour.
